The
traditional St Lawrence concert will take place on
August 10th at 10pm as has been customary for the
Algorta choir on this special town summer date for
the past fourty years. After the farmers market, the
late evening concert held in the square with the same
name as the choir has become a must do. The choir has
prepared an extraordinary concert this year, under
Josu Soldevilla’s baton and accompanied by the
pianist Maite Olmos, traditional Basque flute
(txistu) player Adrian Garcia de los Ojos as well as
the the Uribe Kosta Txistu Band. The choir will
perform pieces from its normal repertoire by
composers such as Garbizu, Solozabal, Mokoroa, etc.
as well as some spiritual black gospel and the
premier of the bass voice musical score of Nerea
izango zen, Mikel Laboa’s famous Txoria, txori,
arranged specifically for the Biotz Alai by composer
and world class musical director Javi Busto and the
Biotz Alai’s choir conductor Josu
Soldevilla’s musical accompaniment
The Biotz Alai choir will be saying farewell to Jose Lejarraga, aka “Petiso”, one of its most veteran members, who will no longer be part of the Biotz Alai after more than fourty years as a choralist. He will however keep on dedicating most of his time to festive performances. He leaves behind amazing memories as an emblematic member of the choir and will always have a special place within the ranks of the Biotz Alai
