Alai will perform its traditional sacred concerts
close to the Easter dates. These concerts have been
going on for more than 10 years; this year they will
be held at Saint Nicholas Church in Algorta, at 8pm
on March 26th , as well as on March 29th at 8pm at
the Residence Jesuit Fathers Church in Bilbao. The
choir will be joined by the Euskal Kamerata Orkestra,
also conducted by Josu Soldevilla, the choir
conductor. The performance is solely focused on
Vicente Goicoechea, Basque composer born in
Aramaiona, who is one of the most famous Spanish
polyphonysts, and most interpreted at concerts. The
core of the concert will be the Mass in Honour of the
Immaculate Virgin Mary, along with other pieces by
the same composer dedicated to the Virgin, such as
Christmas Fasting, Ave Maria, Ave verum corpus and
Salve Regina.
