The Biotz Alai launches its new CD

The launch of the Biotz Alai’s new CD took place last Thursday, December 15, at the Hotel Igeretxe. It was an emotional occasion, as it brought together local notaries, retired choristers, people connected to the choir and almost all the current members.

The event was attended by the M.P for Bizkaia, D. Jose Luis Bilbao, and by the Mayor of Getxo, D. Iñaki Zarraoa. They were greeted by the song, “Agur Jaunak”, after which Nekane Ardanza, who hosted the event, handed over to the Choir’s president, Txema Batarrita, who related various anecdotes connected to the recording which took place in Paris in 1976, a moving experience for those amongst the audience who had participated and remembered the occasion. Following this, the audience was first played a song from the old vinyl record of the recording, and then a song from the new CD.

The M.P. praised the work of the Biotz Alai and the contribution represented by the new disc, as well as its record of cultural and political normalisation during those years. To finish, the Biotz Alai, conducted by Javier Oyarzabal, performed two of the new songs included in the CD. .
