Great success of the Biotz Alai Choir in its tour of concerts throughout Catalunya
August/18/2007
Last July
20th, the Biotz Alai Choir returned from their trip
to Catalunya where they performed three times, each
of which marked a big success of interpretation and
audience:
A great concert in Salou, in the magnificent setting of the Municipal Teatre Auditori.
At the Monserrat Basilica, the choir performed at 12:30 which meant the best timing possible since the Virolai (hymn in the honour of Monserrat) is sang by the Escolanía (a famous local children’s choir) at 13:00 everyday. Biotz Alai sang a variety of religious polyphony works and some Basque folk songs, and finished at 13:00 singing the Virolai and the Salve Regina.
The concert in the New Church of San Carlos de la Rápita was a memorable one, too. The choir performed beautifully and the large audience ended up standing and cheering.
All singers and their companions, who formed a group of eighty-two, will keep very pleasant memories of this trip.
