BIOTZ ALAI CHOIR WILL HOLD ITS XLI MEMBERS CONCERT, PAYING HOMAGE TO PATXI GARCIA

The Biotz
Alai will hold its traditional MEMBERS CONCERT yet
another year at 8pm this upcoming December 19th at
Algorta’s Saint Nicholas Church; the choir thus
shows its gratitude to all its followers’
support as well as the backup of the choir’s
objectives.
This year, the concert will be dedicated to Patxi Garcia who presented the event for more than 30 years; alongside Jose Estankona in the beginning and then after his passing away, as the solo presenter. He had a thorough knowledge of music and choral and had a knack with words; each one of his presentations had its own special rhythm.
An honest man, who lived through many hardships throughout his life in support of his ideals and made it to the end, always loyal to his principles and friends. A true friend of the BIOTZ ALAI, Honorary Member and Gold Insignia of the choir, who managed to make time for the choir and offered precise and wise advice always. The choir now wishes to express its gratitude, and offers this concert to honor him in memoriam.
Traditionally, the Saint Lucia Choir from Llodio will perform as the guest choir, under Beatriz Zurimendi’s baton, performing pieces by Stheele, Salaberri, Masvernat, Sorozabal, etc.
The Biotz Alai will perform its first Members Concert under Josu Soldevilla’s baton; it will prove to be an innovative performance as five new pieces will premier as well as the leaving space for the traditional carols such as Ator, ator and Olentzero, as well as the Azkue’s unforgettable Arrantzalia.
The Members Dinner will take place at the Igeretxe Hotel after the concert; a total of 200 guests are expected to attend, chaired by Getxo’s Mayor, Imanol Landa.
